To develop a technical-economic feasibility study for a 200 MW thermosolar power plant is the aim of the project that has been launched this week in Botswana. The technical leader of the project will be the National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER) with the participation of Nixus Consulting, Ynfiniti and Parsons Brinckerhoff.
Managed by Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) and financed by the World Bank and the African Development Bank, for a 12-month period, CENER’s main function will be to select the most adequate technology, choose the size and configure the plant, and to finally decide on the best site.
Manuel Blanco, Director of the Solar Thermal Power Department of CENER is in this South African country this week to start the project, counting on all the institutions and social agents involved, to make the opening of the office in that country official and to review the scope of the work, together with all the other project partners.
