CENER COLLABORATES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF RENEWABLES IN PERU

CENER colabora en el desarrollo de las renovables en Perú

24 February 2012

OSINERGMIN and CENER have recently signed a collaboration agreement

Representatives from CENER will meet with the Minister of the Environment and the Vice-Minister of Energy, Peru, among other prominent people.

Analysing possible project development and collaboration channels related to renewable energies, as well as establishing institutional contacts, is the main objective of the visit that the Director General of CENER, Jose Javier Armendariz, and Javier San Miguel, from the Business Development Department will make to Peru next week.

The travel agenda has been organised by OSINERGMIN, the energy regulatory body of Peru, based on the agreement signed a month ago between the two institutions. CENER will collaborate as technical advisor in the evaluation of energy facility projects that will be brought out to tender in Peru in the near future. They will also work together to promote distributed generation facilities in isolated areas of the country, relating renewable energies and pumping systems in some cases. Work meetings have been scheduled with the Director of the entity, Alfredo Dammert and his team.

During their visit to Lima, the CENER executives will meet with the Minister of the Environment, Manuel Pulgar, and the Vice-Minister of Energy, Luis Ortigas.

The second part of the agenda includes a trip to the region of Piura, where meetings will be held with the regional President, Javier Atkins, and with the Rector of the University of Piura, Antonio Abruña, among others, and where they will take part in a convention of regions from the north of Peru. Finally on their return to Lima, they will attend an International Conference, which will analyse the possibilities of collaboration between the countries that form part of the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru) and Europe.

OSINERGMIN and CENER have recently signed a collaboration agreement whereby they undertake to jointly conduct energy analyses and studies, as well as organise a series of events, conferences and technical seminars, whose main objective is to promote and develop renewable energies, as well as to make a more efficient use of energy.

Osinergmin is a public institution integrated within the Energy Investment Supervisory System, whose main function is to supervise and control compliance on a national level with the legal, technical, safety and environmental provisions, related to Hydrocarbon and Electricity activities.
