CENER HOSTS THE FIRST SPANISH-KOREAN ENERGY CONFERENCE

CENER acoge el primer encuentro de energía España-Corea

Around twenty energy representatives from Korea are meeting with their Spanish counterparts today and tomorrow at Spain’s National Centre for Renewable Energies (CENER), with a view to sharing their experiences and discussing possible synergies in the renewable energies sector in both countries. This seminar is organised by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Savings (IDAE) and by the Korea Energy Management Corporation (KEMCO) with the collaboration of the Korean Embassy in Spain and CENER.

The Regional Minister for Rural Development, Industry, Employment and the Environment in Navarre, Lourdes Goicoechea, led the opening ceremony of the Seminar, which was also attended, on behalf of Spain, by Sergio Prieto, Deputy Assistant Director General of International Energy Relations within the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce (MITYC), Isidoro Tapia, Secretary General of IDAE (MITYC) and José Javier Armendáriz, Director General of CENER. Representing Korea were the Korean Ambassador to Spain, Dae-Sung OH and the Director of the Renewable Energies Division within the Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economics, Dae-Kyu Park.

The first day of this seminar was dedicated to a programme of conferences along with a series of bilateral meetings between companies and technology centres. Tomorrow, Friday, the participants in the Seminar will visit energy facilities and test centres, including two CENER centres, its bioclimatic facility that houses a bio-fuel lab and runs solar energy tests; and also its Wind Turbine Test Lab.

The first edition of the Spanish-Korean Renewable Energies Cooperation Seminar has been organised as part of the Memorandum of Understanding, signed between IDAE and KEMCO in September 2009.
