Design, construction and monitoring of a solar chimney (2004-2006)

Ministry of Education and Science

The aim of this project is to obtain an optimised design of a solar chimney as a passive natural ventilation system applied to residential buildings, seeking a modular model that can easily be adapted to different building typologies. This free ventilation reduces the cooling demand during hot seasons.

The chimney was built next to the CENER building. Real working data were compiled in 2006 and the conclusions were drafted in 2007.
