Photovoltaic Solar Energy Department

One of the main aims of the CENER Photovoltaic Solar Energy Department is to support the photovoltaic industrial sector with its developments and to help reduce the costs of this type of energy source, improving and increasing its possibilities of use.

The Department has two different fields of action, on the one hand, the research carried out by participating in R&D&I projects, and on the other, the value added services it provides to industries and individuals. Thus, its scope of action extends not just to the manufacturers of products with photovoltaic applications, but also to all the players involved in their subsequent implementation.

The applied research projects are generally conducted in coordination with companies that are able to absorb the development obtained and to implement it industrially, whilst the basic research projects are internal departmental development lines that help increase its members’ knowledge so that they can later extrapolate it by way of the services they provide on the outside.

The CENER Photovoltaic Solar Energy Department also collaborates in international cooperation projects sponsored by AECI and in initiatives of the International Energy Agency (IEA).
