A delegation of institutional representatives from Brazil visited the facilities of the National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER) in Sarriguren, last Friday, to analyse possible collaboration channels related to energy aspects.
The institutional delegation was headed by Senator Valdir Raupp, National Vice-president of the political party, PMDB (Partido do Movimento Democrático Brasileiro). This is a centrist party that has the largest number of members, as well as mayors, regional ministers and number of MPs in the National Congress of Brazil. The president of PMDB (Senator Michel Temer) is the current Vice-president of the Republic of Brazil.
Senator Valdir was accompanied on this occasion by four federal MPs, as well as by representatives of the governments of Mato Gross and Rondonia and of Garanova Brazil. During their visit to Navarra, they attended a reception at the Palace of Navarra offered by the spokesperson of the Government of Navarra and Regional Minister of Culture, Tourism and Institutional Relations, Juan Luis Sanchez de Muniain, and by the Regional Minister of Rural Development, Industry, Employment and Environment of the Government of Navarra, Lourdes Goicoechea.
The visit to Navarra has been promoted by the National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER), which is why three of its directors also took part in the reception: Julia Elizalde (Chief Communication and External Affairs Officer), Eduardo Aznar and Raquel Izuriaga (Dept. Of Business Development).
At midday the delegation travelled to CENER headquarters where they were able to visit the test laboratories and also hold a work meeting.
The strong growth that Brazil is experiencing makes it a very important potential market. That is why several representatives from the PMDB party (Partido do Movimento Democrático Brasileiro) have visited us in order to see the collaboration possibilities that may exist with administrations and private companies in the fields of infrastructures and renewable energies. More specifically, in the area of renewable energies, they seek alliances in the field of technology transfer in order to continue to foster electricity generation using renewable sources.
It so happens that the Minister of Energy of Brazil, Edison Lobao, is also a member of the PMDB the party and visited CENER’s facilities with a group of Brazilian wind energy business people in April 2009, in answer to an invitation made by the then Spanish Minister of industry, Miguel Sebastian.
