The kick-off meeting of Committee 177, Thermosolar Power Stations of the International Electrotechnical Commission has taken place in Madrid this week. The objective of this committee is to develop international standards related to the thermosolar power industry.
The creation of this international standardisation committee under the umbrella of the International Electrotechnical Commission is a new milestone in the development of the thermosolar power industry and gives an idea of how mature this industry is as well as its international outreach. This initiative was promoted jointly some time ago by CIEMAT (Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology), PROTERMOSOLAR (Spanish Association of the Thermoelectric Solar Industry) and CENER, in close collaboration with AENOR (Spanish Association of Standardisation and Certification).
The following delegations have taken part in the kick-off meeting of Committee 177, Thermosolar Power Stations, which has been held this week in Madrid: Germany, Spain, the United States, Israel, Japan, Sweden and Switzerland. The Spanish representation was made up of: Manuel Blanco (CENER/IEA-SOLARPACES), Juan Ignacio Burgaleta (TORRESOL ENERGY), Luis Crespo (PROTERMOSOLAR), Miguel Hernández (Fundación Gómez-Pardo), Javier León (CIEMAT), Marcelino Sánchez (CENER), ), Patricia Santamaría (SHOTT), Manuel Silva (CTAER) and Eduardo Zarza (CIEMAT).
The launch of this International Committee has closed the regulatory structure creation process, which was also started in Spain, on the initiative of CENER, CIEMAT, PROTERMOSOLAR and AENOR, with the creation, two years ago, of the AEN/CTN Committee 206/SC1 “Thermoelectric Solar Energy Systems”.
