26 February 2010
Ignacio Martí, Assistant Technical Director and R&D Coordinator of the National Renewable Energy Centre will be responsible for delivering the key session at the “XXXI Scientific Conferences of the Spanish Meteorological Association – 11th Hispano-Portuguese Meteorology Meeting”, which will be held this year in Seville from 1 to 3 March and whose main theme will be "Meteorology and Renewable Energies”.
Ignacio Martí’s presentation will address the interaction that exists between these two fields, from the resource (wind, solar and biomass) assessment viewpoint and also from the perspective of renewable energy grid integration, bearing in mind the prediction of solar radiation and wind to manage the solar plants and farms, respectively. In this sense, it could be said that meteorology can benefit from renewable energy installations, as all of them represent a data network to measure weather variables that can collaborate in improving weather predictions.
On the other hand, Sergio Lozano, technician from the CENER Wind Energy Dept. will participate in a round table on Tuesday, 2 March, to talk about the experience of the national centre in preparing wind maps.
