CENER ORGANISES A CONFERENCE ON MICROGRIDS IN INDUSTRIAL AREAS

One of the main objectives proposed by the European project, Optimagrid, is to make industrial areas energetically self-manageable. This project will be presented during a technical conference to be held on the 6th of May in Sangüesa, organised by the Energy Grid Integration department CENER Renewables. All those attending the conference will have the chance to visit the Microgrid that CENER has recently launched. This microgrid focuses on industrial application and it provides electricity for the Wind Turbine Test Laboratory, situated there, as well as for part of the public lighting of the Rocaforte industrial estate where it is located. It has been co-funded by the Government of Navarra and the European Commission, through the Regional Development Funds. The conference on Friday, the 6th of May, will therefore combine theoretic and practical concepts, as, apart from those already mentioned, examples of good practices of this type of installation will also be presented, such as the Walqa project in Aragon, additional services for the correct management of the grid (modelling), as well as the role played by the microgrids in the European energy strategy. The Optimagrid project has a budget of 1.19 billion Euros and will last for two years. Coordinated by San Jorge University, its partners include the Foundation for the Development of New Hydrogen Technologies in Aragon, the Research Centre for Energy Resources and Consumption (CIRCE), ESTIA Recherche, AICIA, the Higher Technical Institute of the Technical University of Lisbon, and CENER.
