NEWA-meeting-at-Pamplona

Sarriguren (Navarra) 4nd of May 2017.- A group of around 50 wind energy experts coming from 8 European countries have met these days in Pamplona to participate in the annual Project meeting that will develop the new European wind atlas which receives the name of NEWA (New European Wind Atlas).

From Monday to Wednesday last week several working sessions took place under the organization of CENER (Centro Nacional de EnergĆas Renovables) Wind Energy Department, which coordinates the technical Spanish team involved in this project.

For this annual meeting of NEWA partners, on top of analyzing the experiments results carried out up to date in Scandinavian Countries, Germany and Portugal,Ā actions of the second half of the Project were planned spanning until year 2019. These topics deal with concrete mesoscale and microscale issues to be developed until the end of the project.

Moreover, according with the meeting agenda ALEX17 experiment has been presented by CENER staff. This experiment will take place in the surrounding area of CENER Test Wind Farm in Sierra de AlÔiz (Navarra), during this and next year. Validation of the proposed models against measurements is especially key in this project. It will be one of the main milestones of the project proposing a new methodology for Europe that will become new standards in future European projects.
