CENER WILL SHOW ITS TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE AT EU PVSEC 2024

Technology experts in solar photovoltaics have an appointment next week in Vienna (Austria), where the European Solar Photovoltaic Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC 2024) will be held from 23 to 27 September, which is considered the largest international conference on photovoltaic research, technologies and applications. The scientific programme of the conference is coordinated by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.

At the same time, an exhibition will be held in which the specialized photovoltaic industry will present its technologies, innovations and new concepts. The participation of CENER researchers will be multiple and varied throughout the week, as well as presenting 5 technical posters (and two more in collaboration), they will be speakers and moderators at the Conference and will participate in working meetings of European R&D projects, the International Energy Agency (IEA-PVPS) or the EERA-PV Commission, among others.

Posters

Specifically, the titles of the posters to be presented are:

  • Advanced pv and thermal modeling for a feasible and efficient BAPV-T system design and evaluation.
  • Development and testing of a thermomechanical procedure to assess the disassembly potential of a photovoltaic module.
  • Hands-on training in photovoltaic reliability assessment: A multinational educational approach under the PROMISE project.
  • Enhanced performance of PV modules using hierarchically structured glass in different climatic conditions.
  • Enhancing measurement protocols for perovskite photovoltaic devices: insights from the VIPERLAB project.

And 2 more posters will be presented in which CENER has collaborated:

  • Harmonising Multi-sites Measurement of Photovoltaic Systems: Comprehensive Framework for Real-Life Test Conditions in a Maltese Environment.
  • Mediterranean Climate Impact on Photovoltaic Systems: Insights from Malta and Implications for Future European Integration.

Oral presentations and sector meetings

As part of the conference programme, Alicia Buceta will give a presentation on Wednesday entitled “Bifacial Lightweight Solution Without Glass”, and Ana Gracia Amillo will moderate the session on Thursday entitled “Outdoor Performance and Energy Yield Estimation”.

Taking advantage of the fact that international experts from the photovoltaic sector are attending the meeting in Vienna, numerous meetings and parallel events are organised. In the case of CENER researchers, the agenda includes the final meeting of the European VIPERLAB project (Horizon 2020), and the follow-up meeting of the PROMISE project (Horizon Europe), as well as the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Photovoltaic Solar Energy group of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA-PV), and also that of the Executive Committee of the International Energy Agency for Solar Photovoltaics (IEA-PVPS).

Among the parallel events organised on Monday, the first day of the Conference, in the afternoon there will be the session “Ecodesign and Energy Label for PV Products: Present and Future”, which is organised by CENER in collaboration with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), the Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) and the Directorate General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) of the European Commission.

Jaione Bengoechea will moderate the event, while Ana Gracia will present the project “Development of a recyclability index for photovoltaic products”, led by the consultancy Viegand Maagoe. At the same event, the project “Development of standardization methods for the eco-design and energy labeling of photovoltaic products” will be presented.

In this context, it is worth mentioning that the researcher from the CENER Solar Department Asier Murillo has been chosen as a finalist for the EU PVSEC 2024 student awards, for having participated in the realization of a research project, together with his colleagues from the department, which he must present on Thursday afternoon. It is the poster entitled: Development and testing of a thermomechanical procedure to assess the disassembly potential of a photovoltaic module.

The awards ceremony for the winners will be on Friday morning.
