The Photovoltaic Power Systems Collaboration Programme (PVPS) of the International Energy Agency (IEA) is an R&D cooperation agreement which aims to enhance the international collaborative efforts in order to promote the use and application of solar photovoltaic energy, facilitating the transition towards sustainable energy systems, in the fulfilment of greenhouse gas reduction targets.
The PVPS Technology Collaboration Programme develops its mission through different activities structured in Tasks, in which the participants in the work programme collaborate. Broadly speaking, the aim of these activities is to:
- Develop photovoltaic technology
- Improve the competitiveness of the solar PV market
- Promote a sustainable PV industry
- Define policy recommendations and strategies
- To provide impartial and reliable information.
The activities, organisation and management of the PVPS programme are overseen by the IEA PVPS Executive Committee (ExCo), which consists of delegates from each participating country or organisation. Currently, this Executive Committee is composed of 30 members from 26 countries and 4 organisations.
CENER participates in this Technological Collaboration Programme on Photovoltaic Energy Systems, representing Spain in the Executive Committee. The main responsibilities as Executive Delegates consist of:
- the approval of the work programme of each Task,
- the evaluation and periodic monitoring of the progress of the different Tasks,
- the management of the participation of national experts in these Tasks; and
- the review of the technical reports produced
- the preparation of representative reports on the state of photovoltaics in each country.
