FLOAT SOLUTIONS: Sensing, design and simulation of dynamic cable, design and optimization of offshore structures, fatigue analysis, materials and monitoring
PROJECT SCOPE
This project is a continuation of the HIPERWIND project, in which its main objective is the development and validation of large floating wind turbines (>10MW). The Float Solutions project focuses on various specific activities that complement the root project, such as the design and manufacture of the mooring chains, and also the dynamic energy evacuation cable.
CENER´s ROLE
CENER’s activities in this project are aimed at expanding aerolastic code calculation and simulation capabilities, coupling them with the hydrodynamic effects of floating platforms. Through the complete and coupled simulation of a wind turbine installed on a floating platform, the forces and moments that elements such as the mooring lines and the power output cable will be obtained. Ultimately, CENER will define the forces and moments that must be used in the design of the dynamic cable.
Likewise, CENER will develop its activity in scale tests in a hydrodynamic tank for the prototype of the floating platform with a wind turbine. CENER will develop a testing methodology and simulation software to carry out the test.
Several companies and technology centers participate in the project, forming a consortium with complementary capacities that favor the development of the proposed technological challenges. The entities that make up the consortium are: Grupo General Cable Sistemas, S.A.; Acciona Windpower, S.A.; Acciona Energy, S.A.; Vicinay Cadenas, S.A.; Engineea Remote Technologies, S.L. and CENER itself.
The project has been funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. Its fundable budget amounts to €2,322,657.95.
