FOREST. Future Ocean Renewable Energy System Technologies

01/04/2025 –  31/12/2025

PROJECT SCOPE

FOREST accelerates ocean energy through next-generation subsea components and digital technologies. The project focuses on enhancing array performance and reducing the Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE). By advancing durability and reliability standards, FOREST drives the transition toward market readiness, ensuring ocean energy systems meet the highest global benchmarks for efficiency and survivability.

The project will deliver three critical innovations: super dynamic cables, streamlined quick-connector systems, and AI-driven optical measurement platforms for real-time health monitoring. These technologies will optimize array performance and foster investor confidence. This strategic collaboration ensures compliance with international certification standards while supporting global targets for offshore renewable energy deployment.

CENER´s ROLE

CENER leverages its offshore wind expertise to drive marine energy innovation, focusing on AI-driven tools for predictive maintenance. By developing specialized models for mooring systems and structural integrity, CENER optimizes system operations and enhances reliability. These tools reduce long-term costs and provide actionable data, transforming complex operational variables into high-performance maintenance strategies for real-world ocean energy projects.

Furthermore, CENER collaborates in the development of the Innovation Design Framework to facilitate the integration of advanced technologies into marine systems. This modular approach improves efficiency and sustainability across diverse platforms. To ensure industry-wide impact, CENER will support technology adoption through technical guidelines, specialized publications, and workshops, establishing new benchmarks for performance and accelerating the global transition to clean, reliable marine energy.
