The headquarters of the National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER), cover a surface area of around 5,000 m2. They were built in 2004 in line with bioclimatic and environmental criteria and focused on energy saving and respect for the environment. The aspects related to their design, orientation as well as both the materials and systems used, collaborate for this to be considered one of the most representative buildings of bioclimatic architecture in Spain.
The building was designed by the architects, CƩsar Ruiz-Larrea, Luis Miguel and Antonio Gutierrez and it satisfies three main objectives: it has minimum energy demand, it satisfies at least 50% of this demand with renewable energy sources, and it has been constructed with criteria and materials that have a limited environmental impact.
- Reduction of the energy demand
- Integration of Renewable Energy Sources in the building
- Environmentally-friendly construction
