Combining technical expertise, cutting-edge infrastructure, and a focus on process optimization, CENER provides the industry with characterization and sustainability analysis solutions that will facilitate the commercial-scale adoption of perovskite-based photovoltaic technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>VIPERLAB: A Key Project for Perovskite Photovoltaic Technology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER) has solidified its position as a benchmark in metrology applied to perovskite photovoltaic technology, one of the most promising innovations in the renewable energy sector. This progress has been made possible through its participation in the European VIPERLAB project, which successfully concluded at the end of 2024 and aimed to facilitate the research and development of this technology to accelerate its market entry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">VIPERLAB has brought together some of Europe&#8217;s leading research centers, enabling transnational and virtual access to specialized perovskite infrastructures. In this context, CENER has played a key role in defining and standardizing measurement protocols for this emerging technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Development of Advanced Measurement Protocols<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the VIPERLAB project, CENER participated in six intercomparison exercises on the characterization of the performance and durability of perovskite photovoltaic devices, contributing to the development of standardized measurement protocols. These protocols address key aspects such as cell stability, pre-conditioning procedures, and hysteresis in measurements<a href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a>, ensuring more reliable and reproducible assessments\u2014critical for industrial validation and the future commercial deployment of the technology, both for single-junction and tandem configurations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The final VIPERLAB report highlights that these advances represent a crucial step in improving the accuracy and reliability of perovskite measurement practices, contributing to the development of this promising renewable energy technology. Thanks to this work, CENER is positioning itself as a strategic partner for companies and research centers looking to characterize and optimize their perovskite photovoltaic devices before entering the market<a href=\"#_edn2\" name=\"_ednref2\">[ii]<\/a><sup>,<\/sup><a href=\"#_edn3\" name=\"_ednref3\">[iii]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>CENER Services: Characterization Testing and Life Cycle Analysis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the knowledge and experience gained through VIPERLAB, CENER offers a comprehensive range of characterization services for emerging technologies. These services include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Characterization testing: <\/strong>Performance and reliability assessment of photovoltaic devices using advanced measurement techniques.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customized protocols: <\/strong>Development of methodologies tailored to the specific needs of the industry and research centers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stability and degradation analysis: <\/strong>Measurement of the durability and behavior of cells and modules under different environmental conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Additionally, as part of the project, CENER has contributed to the creation of fundamental databases for sustainability evaluation through life cycle analysis (LCA) of perovskite photovoltaic modules<a href=\"#_edn4\" name=\"_ednref4\">[iv]<\/a>. These databases, hosted on CENER&#8217;s platform VIPERLAB-VAPo (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.viperlab-vapo.eu\/manufacturing\/\">https:\/\/www.viperlab-vapo.eu\/manufacturing\/<\/a>), compile information on:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Material usage: <\/strong>Detailed inventories of the composition of perovskite photovoltaic technologies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Energy demand and process flow: <\/strong>Essential data for assessing the environmental impact of device production and operation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Costs and scalability: <\/strong>Key information to optimize processes and facilitate the transition to viable industrial production.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With this information, CENER provides advanced tools to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs, offering the industry crucial insights for the adoption and commercial scalability of this technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Perovskite Technology: A Solar Energy Revolution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Perovskite-based photovoltaic technology has emerged as one of the most disruptive advancements in the photovoltaic sector. Its high efficiency, low production costs, and ability to integrate into tandem configurations make it an attractive alternative to conventional silicon technology.
