National and regional resource and energy maps are required by governments and energy associations to accelerate the growth of renewables, improving regional energy plans and lowering the complexity that developers face at entering into new renewable energy markets.
CENER participates in international groups of experts, for the improvement of resource assessment procedures and resource maps, with special focus on wind maps. It’s CENER’s mission to minimize the risks for the industry throughout the project lifecycle, from the early prospecting phase to the more detailed financial forecasts and real-time maps we provide to the industry.
CENER has developed national and regional maps for: Morocco, Tunisia, Rumania, Poland, Guatemala, South America, México, Australia, India and Iberia.
Iberian Wind Map
The high-resolution wind map (50m x 50m) for the Iberian peninsula allows easy and quick access to more than 20-year history of climate data (wind, temperature, humidity, …) to carry out wind zone surveys or download time series for met-mast data correlation. It has been developed using downscaling methodologies between mesoscale and microscale models.
The Global Atlas for Renewable Energy is a web platform that allows its users to find maps of renewable energy resources for locations across the world. IRENA has brought together more than 50 international research institutions to share over 2000 renewable energy maps on this single and consistent platform. CENER has participated with wind maps, and in the development of the platform.
Wind forecast and waves maps
The forecast service automatically generate the 7 days climatic forecast and 5 days wave forecast. The meteorological variables included are: wind, temperature, pressure, rain, snow, cloudiness and reduced visibility. The wave variables include: Significant wave height, swell wave height and time line for both. The information is provided in maps or in selected areas.
